Since the introduction of flavors, disposable vapes have had a stronghold on the industry. However, the FDA has recently enacted new regulations that govern which products are permitted to remain on the market.

During the one-year grace period for goods that were first introduced to the market before August 8, 2016, and for which a premarket tobacco application (PTMA) was filed by September 9, 2020.

Hundreds of companies submitted over six million specific product SKUs for inclusion in the list. 

 It's a time-consuming process

The list is most useful for cross-referencing submitted products with the FDA's product registration database, allowing the agency to quickly determine whether producers of online-sold products have submitted PMTAs. It's a time-consuming process, but that's how the FDA has began issuing warning letters to small businesses for selling non-compliant goods.

According to the FDA, the list is not exhaustive. Companies that did not submit their information in time for the initial iteration of the list were excluded. Furthermore, some identical products sold under other names are exempt from having to be listed separately.
